About Minnesota 2

Today , we learned about cross cultural communication. Learning to express clearly in a second language can be challenging. A lot of time is spent studying grammar, vocabulary, idioms and slang, and all the other parts of a language. However, there is one challenge that is often almost forgotten the challenge of culture. Culture influences how language is used appropriately in different situations. In our increasingly global community, learning a language is not enough anymore. I learned It is also necessary to understand the culture that dictates how ideas are expressed. In addition to vocabulary and grammar, everyone needs lessons in patience and tolerance too.

Native American Indians have a wonderful expression, " You never understand people until you have walked a mile in their moccasins". I thought this expression is very interesting. During this program you will have the chance to walk mare than a mile in the "moccasins" of American people. Complete the following statements. There are no right or  wrong answers. The purpose of the activity is to examine your beliefs, attitudes and feelings. It is very important to be aware of these things as our explore the American culture.
